This backpack is designed to carry extremely heavy loads, just as its military predecessors have been since the early 1980s. With the roll top at the top, the zipper at the bottom and a drawstring distributor on the inside, you can use the main pocket in any way you want. By opening the distributor, the main pocket turns into a huge hollow space, allowing you to pack very large and long items. The zipper at the bottom provides quick access to all the gear you need most during the day, while the roll top provides weatherproof protection for most of your gear. The lower zippered compartment features elastic compression straps on the inside and four small mesh pockets to organize your gear. A zippered pocket on the inside of the lid provides secure storage for your wallet, keys, travel documents and phone. The roll closure, the floating lid and the compression straps on the side offer a wide range of adaptability to the volume of the backpack. Fasten it tightly or loosen it, depending on the load carried. The compression straps ensure that additional equipment can be attached to the outside of the backpack if necessary. The modular LJK is designed to meet the needs of the armed forces for a modern military backpack. The characteristics and details are well thought out according to the needs of the 21st century without compromising durability and reliability in extremely heavy military use. The backpack can be customized to your needs with separate pockets and numerous attachment points. There's not much left of the old LJK backpack, except for the name, external frame design and a construction that can withstand pretty much anything. The compartments and structure of the entire backpack have been completely redesigned. The end result is more practical than before and considerably more versatile. The modular LJK has also proved to be a functional and reliable carrier when used by the Finnish armed forces and the Finnish border guard. A traditional backpack with external frame is at its best with a heavy load, but is also suitable for lighter trips. The external tube frame ensures air circulation between the pocket itself and the user's back, significantly reducing the heat load. Although anatomical backpacks have taken over some grass in the backpack market, there are still situations where nothing is better than an external frame backpack. Compartments The upper compartment of the bag (dimensions about 50 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by attaching the opening of the drawstring, which is secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overpackaging. The opening is first covered with a attached straps and is then covered with a generous flap that is secured with buckle closures. The straps are long enough to wear, for example, a sleeping bag or mat under the flap. The bags are attached to the backpack with MOLLE girders used in military equipment. It is a very simple, durable and reliable attachment method. OTHER ANCHORAGES There is a generous number of fastening loops on top of the valve and in the main compartment. This makes it possible to secure even large loads (such as the beloved Sissi tent) on or under the valve by means of detachable tires. The loops on the inside of the flap are perfect for attaching a sleeping mat. Especially a military-style tent mattress can be attached to this by means of the elastic bands. There are several belt loops on the sides and back of the backpack that can be attached to various essentials with detachable straps. The backpack comes with four two-piece buckles that can be moved freely between the backpack's attachment points. By default, they are used to strengthen the attachment of the side boxes. There is a lot of MOLLE webbing on top of the flap, on the sides, back and bottom of the bag and in the lower compartment for attaching additional pockets. You can also easily tie supplies to the girth using detachable straps. The lower corners of the bag have open pockets to attach long devices, e.g. an axe handle, to the side of the backpack. The lower corners of the shoulder straps have loops that serve as attachment points for small objects, such as water bottles. SUPPORT SYSTEM The frame of the support system is the strong aluminium tube frame of the LJK model. Unlike civilian backpacks, it has no upper bend because the bend easily sits in the head's way when it is necessary to move on rough terrain. Furthermore, the frame is reinforced with additional support blocks. The shoulder straps and waistband are firmly padded and anatomically shaped. In addition, the lower back is supported by a separate thick pillow. The buckle of the hip belt is a special plastic buckle that can be pulled in both directions and can be opened by pressing on the middle.     COMPARTMENTS

    The main compartment of the Backpack (dimensions about 42 x 27 x 15 cm) is closed with a two-way zipper. The inside is without any additional compartments so even special and large items can fit in. Packing smartly is wise; for instance, folding one’s change of clothes and putting them against the back. This way, the Backpack would function as a back cushion. The outer pocket (measures about 15 x 23 x 5 cm) is closed with a zipper. It is convenient for smaller items which might be needed quickly.

    CARRYING SYSTEM

    The 202’s shoulder straps are very simple and adjusting their length is done using the plastic buckles in the lower corners. The Backpack can also be carried by hand by an extremely strong two-piece handle.

This design was conceived as part of a special military carrying system, which required a small daypack that could be easily attached to a larger backpack. On the outside are four rows of PALS weaving tapes. These can be used for attaching pouches, bungee cords, and buckles to quickly attach or detach the Hatka to a larger backpack. The four webbing loops at the bottom can be used for elastic cords, so you can carry items under the backpack. Two long internal compartments are there to organize smaller items, and the D-ring provides a point to store small valuables. The large external pocket against your back is large enough for a hydration reservoir or tarp. The simple 25mm webbing shoulder straps are attached to D-rings and completely removable, and therefore also replaceable with padded shoulder straps if you wish.     TRICKS AND MODULARITY Clip and tie it to a larger backpack for use as a "grab and go" daypack. You can do this by tucking it under the flap or by using packing straps. The really great way is to attach the Hatka to the side compression or lid straps using G-hooks or PALS mounted SR buckles. You'll need four of them to securely attach the Hatka 12L to the back of your Jääkäri M, L or XL. Please note that these attachment buckles ARE NOT INCLUDED with the backpack. If you need to, you can add a lot of stuff to the outside of this otherwise quite small backpack. The PALS webbing allows you to attach bags, but you can also thread bungee cords to it (along with the four webbing loops at the bottom) for rain gear, tarpaulins etc. Because the Hatka is in many ways a spiritual successor to the venerable 202 daypack, it also has very rudimentary shoulder straps. This reduces weight and bulk, which is great if you're strapping it to a larger backpack. If you need to, you can easily replace it with more advanced padded options. Although there aren't too many compartments, you can still make good use of them if you pack smartly. Of course, you can put your large items in the main compartment, and the two small inner compartments can hold all kinds of small items and even water bottles.
