A classic retro backpack for a hunter; the design has remained unchanged since the 1950s. After making something that works once, why fix the design if it is not broken! Just as great for hunting, camping and the city today as it was 60 years ago.

Due to its size, the 323 saddle sack is ideal for one or two day hunting trips: the backpack holds the necessary overnight equipment, provisions and other useful gadgets and tools comfortably. Once upon a time when men were made of steel and women as tough as nails, you could survive for weeks just with the saddle sack (or months, if you ask remote patrollers who served in wars), sleeping in the wilderness and eating what nature has to offer. Although the needs of a modern camper are different, a good backpack design is still a good backpack design. The traditional saddle sack is as fine a carrying device as it ever was, and it has the sort of a romantic retro vibe that you just cannot find in contemporary backpacks.

COMPARTMENTS

The main compartment of the bag (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by tightening the opening which is covered with a flap that can be secured with leather straps. The straps are long enough to attach, for example, a rolled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable straps can be used to lengthen the straps. The size of the main compartment of the backpack is large enough to fit even a heavy winter sleeping bag inside. The side pockets (dimensions approximately 33 x 10 x 6 cm) are closed with fitted flaps with good coverage and secured with leather straps. The side pockets are ideal for packing large Thermos flasks and other cumbersome, long supplies. The back pocket (dimensions approximately 20 x 30 x 6 cm) is closed with a flap equipped with two leather straps. You can pack plenty of small supplies into the generously sized outer pocket for quick and easy Access.

OTHER ATTACHMENT POINTS

There are attachment loops on the sides of the opening for detachable straps. By using straps, it is possible to attach long rolls, such as a blanket or a sleeping mat, securely on top of the bag. Ensure sturdy attachment by closing the flap of the bag over the roll.

CARRYING SYSTEM

A special feature of the saddle sack is its steel pipe frame which enables steady and comfortable carrying. The sturdy frame holds the bag firmly in shape and the horizontal leather strap stretched across the lower part of the frame sits comfortably against your lower back, keeping the bag itself from touching your back. The shoulder straps are wide leather straps, the length of which can be adjusted with buckles. Because of the steel pipe frame, it is much more comfortable to carry the saddle sack than a frameless backpack, particularly over long distances and with a heavy load.

The monocular night vision goggles are very compact and lightweight, but have all the necessary functionalities to be able to see optimally in the dark. That means: including manual focus function, dioptre setting and built-in infrared light. Whether you're looking for animals, want to observe your private property, or just take a nighttime walk and be able to see where you're walking, these pocket night vision goggles will always come in handy! The viewer is digital, which means that you can use it both at night and during the day. The digital residual light amplifier has a wide field of view of no less than 19 degrees, so that you have a large part of the environment in sight with one look at all times. In addition, you can rely on a standard optical magnification of 1x. To create extra brightness and increase the viewing distance, the night vision goggles are equipped with a built-in infrared amplifier. The IR-Illuminator can be set in three levels: 100%, 60% and 30%. If you do not want to use it (e.g. during the day or at dusk), you can of course also switch it off completely. The viewing distance with the viewer is more than 150m (full moon) and you can detect a person or animal up to 50m in complete darkness, so without any form of residual light. The environment is projected in black and white for extra high contrast. With its 54 grams and compact dimensions, the night vision goggles are easy to carry and store. The unit comes standard with a wristband, so you can securely tie it around your hand, attach it to your keys and also store it directly in, for example, your jacket or trouser pocket.

To use the compact residual light amplifier, place 3 AAA batteries (not included) in the compartment next to the eyepiece. You can then start the unit. The desired diopter setting is determined by turning the ring at the eyepiece. By rotating the ring near the lens, you manually focus the displayed image. This way you have an optimally sharp image at all times. If you do not use the unit for five minutes, it will be automatically turned off via the auto-shutdown function.

Really nothing special, but exactly what you need for a side pocket on your backpack. The zipper is covered for extra water repellency and protection against wear and dirt. The vertical webbings on the front keep the compression straps of your backpack neatly in place over the pouch, so that they can also compress the pouch well. These can also be used as attachment points for bungee cords, carabiners, and things like that. A 25 mm webbing loop and D-ring on the top of the rear inner wall make it possible to secure small and important items, the flat rear compartment provides rudimentary organization for smaller items. The bottom and the lower half of the sides are lined with 210D polyamide for extra wear resistance. A through-through opening allows for the drainage of water that could seep into the bag. The back is equipped with our standard PALS fastening web belt system with folding tabs. The middle horizontal rows were omitted because they didn't really do anything other than add weight. We are not a manufacturer of ultra-light stuff, but even we do not like unnecessary weight. The two vertical fastening straps leave an approx. 9 cm wide gap, so you can carry items such as axes, fishing sticks, etc. behind the pouch. Optimal attachment requires a width of four channels and a height of six (min. five) rows of PALS webbing. The compression straps on the side of the backpack, when put on, will prevent any movement of the backpack and its contents. The 6-litre side bag fits all our Jääkäri backpacks. For backpacks with less than six rows of PALS webbing on the sides, the bottom of the bag "hangs". You can have this absorbed by the compression straps on the sides, or you can choose to attach the pouch one step higher to the side of the backpack. Examples of use With an eight-liter capacity, this is clearly a larger side bag, which is perhaps best used on large and high backpacks of 60-100+ liters.
