A classic retro backpack for a hunter; the design has remained unchanged since the 1950s. After making something that works once, why fix the design if it is not broken! Just as great for hunting, camping and the city today as it was 60 years ago.

Due to its size, the 323 saddle sack is ideal for one or two day hunting trips: the backpack holds the necessary overnight equipment, provisions and other useful gadgets and tools comfortably. Once upon a time when men were made of steel and women as tough as nails, you could survive for weeks just with the saddle sack (or months, if you ask remote patrollers who served in wars), sleeping in the wilderness and eating what nature has to offer. Although the needs of a modern camper are different, a good backpack design is still a good backpack design. The traditional saddle sack is as fine a carrying device as it ever was, and it has the sort of a romantic retro vibe that you just cannot find in contemporary backpacks.

COMPARTMENTS

The main compartment of the bag (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by tightening the opening which is covered with a flap that can be secured with leather straps. The straps are long enough to attach, for example, a rolled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable straps can be used to lengthen the straps. The size of the main compartment of the backpack is large enough to fit even a heavy winter sleeping bag inside. The side pockets (dimensions approximately 33 x 10 x 6 cm) are closed with fitted flaps with good coverage and secured with leather straps. The side pockets are ideal for packing large Thermos flasks and other cumbersome, long supplies. The back pocket (dimensions approximately 20 x 30 x 6 cm) is closed with a flap equipped with two leather straps. You can pack plenty of small supplies into the generously sized outer pocket for quick and easy Access.

OTHER ATTACHMENT POINTS

There are attachment loops on the sides of the opening for detachable straps. By using straps, it is possible to attach long rolls, such as a blanket or a sleeping mat, securely on top of the bag. Ensure sturdy attachment by closing the flap of the bag over the roll.

CARRYING SYSTEM

A special feature of the saddle sack is its steel pipe frame which enables steady and comfortable carrying. The sturdy frame holds the bag firmly in shape and the horizontal leather strap stretched across the lower part of the frame sits comfortably against your lower back, keeping the bag itself from touching your back. The shoulder straps are wide leather straps, the length of which can be adjusted with buckles. Because of the steel pipe frame, it is much more comfortable to carry the saddle sack than a frameless backpack, particularly over long distances and with a heavy load.

Border controls A classic from 1989, known in Finnish as the Rajapartio, originally designed for the Finnish border guard. An internal tubular aluminium frame helps to carry unwieldy and heavy loads. What is special is that the Rajapartio backpack has attachment points for a rifle on the outside. Originally designed to carry an assault rifle, the attachment points can also be used very well to attach, for example, a camera tripod or other long special supplies. Compartments The upper main compartment (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 22 cm) is closed by attaching the opening of the drawstring, which is secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overpackaging. LJK MODULAR A modular, heavy-duty backpack with external frame, designed for the Finnish Armed Forces in 2008. Capacity approx. 80 l. The modular LJK is designed to meet the needs of the armed forces for a modern military backpack. The characteristics and details are well thought out according to the needs of the 21st century without compromising durability and reliability in extremely heavy military use. The backpack can be customized to your needs with separate pockets and numerous attachment points. There's not much left of the old LJK backpack, except for the name, external frame design and a construction that can withstand pretty much anything. The compartments and structure of the entire backpack have been completely redesigned. The end result is more practical than before and considerably more versatile. The modular LJK has also proved to be a functional and reliable carrier when used by the Finnish armed forces and the Finnish border guard. A traditional backpack with external frame is at its best with a heavy load, but is also suitable for lighter trips. The external tube frame ensures air circulation between the pocket itself and the user's back, significantly reducing the heat load. Although anatomical backpacks have taken over some grass in the backpack market, there are still situations where nothing is better than an external frame backpack. Compartments The upper compartment of the bag (dimensions about 50 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by attaching the opening of the drawstring, which is secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overpackaging. With the roll top at the top, the zipper at the bottom and a drawstring distributor on the inside, you can use the main pocket in any way you want. By opening the distributor, the main pocket turns into a huge hollow space, allowing you to pack very large and long items. The zipper at the bottom provides quick access to all the gear you need most during the day, while the roll top provides weatherproof protection for most of your gear. The lower zippered compartment features elastic compression straps on the inside and four small mesh pockets to organize your gear. A zippered pocket on the inside of the lid provides secure storage for your wallet, keys, travel documents and phone. The tires and edge tape we use are, again according to the FDF specifications, strong polyester bands in different widths and thicknesses for different applications. SUPPORT SYSTEM The Jääkäri M has an internal frame of plastic plate, giving it the necessary stiffness to stay upright when loaded with clumsy and bulky equipment. At first glance, the Hatka 12L may seem like just a roller bag with shoulder straps, but when you look closer, you'll see that there's actually a lot going on. This design was conceived as part of a special military carrying system, which required a small daypack that could be easily attached to a larger backpack. TRICKS AND MODULARITY Clip and tie it to a larger backpack for use as a "grab and go" daypack. You can do this by tucking it under the flap or by using packing straps. The really great way is to attach the Hatka to the side compression or lid straps using G-hooks or PALS mounted SR buckles. You'll need four of them to securely attach the Hatka 12L to the back of your Jääkäri M, L or XL. Please note that these attachment buckles ARE NOT INCLUDED with the backpack. If you need to, you can add a lot of stuff to the outside of this otherwise quite small backpack. The PALS webbing allows you to attach bags, but you can also thread bungee cords to it (along with the four webbing loops at the bottom) for rain gear, tarpaulins etc. Because the Hatka is in many ways a spiritual successor to the venerable 202 daypack, it also has very rudimentary shoulder straps. This reduces weight and bulk, which is great if you're strapping it to a larger backpack. If you need to, you can easily replace it with more advanced padded options. Designed to be used with paratroopers’ LJK backpacks, the 202 has already become a classical concept. The cave-like, easy-to-pack bag and the wearing comfort of an external steel frame make the 339 a great choice for longer trips. A classic model from the 1950s, only the materials have been renewed over the years but the design has remained the same. Compartments The main compartment is closed by tightening the opening with drawstring which is covered with a flap that can be fastened with straps. WEARING OPTIONS Due to its large size, the Askare carries the best on your lower back, rotate it forward for easy access. The strap is also long enough to carry the bag on your back like a sling pack. The strap is attached to large triangular wings for stability. For longer backpack movements, you can quickly attach the Askare to the compression straps on the side of your backpack. To do this, you'll need to add suitable buckles (2M PALS mount or split-bar female buckles) or use G-hooks. No quick-release buckles are included with the bag. You can also quickly attach the Askare to the side of your backpack by threading the compression straps on the side of the backpack through the large belt loops on the front of the bag. The strap can be stored in the open compartment on the side of the bag when you carry it on your backpack. Lower your backpack, detach the Askare, take out the strap, put on the packed bag and you're ready to get to work. KEY FEATURES
