The cave-like, easy-to-pack bag and the wearing comfort of an external steel frame make the 339 a great choice for longer trips. A classic model from the 1950s, only the materials have been renewed over the years but the design has remained the same. Compartments The main compartment is closed by tightening the opening with drawstring which is covered with a flap that can be fastened with straps. The straps are long enough to, for example, attach a coiled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable tyres can be used to extend the tyres. The contents of the bag can also be accessed quickly via the small side zipper on the right side of the opening. Special is that on the sides of the bag there are strings that can be used to tighten it to make the bag firm with less stuff in it, the adjustment range is about 10 cm. Conveniently, you can pack extra supplies behind the side cords, for example a camping axe. The side pockets are ideal for packing large thermos bottles and other cumbersome, long necessities. You can put lots of small necessities in the generous outdoor compartment for quick and easy access. SUPPORT SYSTEM The frame of the support device is the steel tube frame of the 339. Due to its size, the 323 saddle sack is ideal for one or two day hunting trips: the backpack holds the necessary overnight equipment, provisions and other useful gadgets and tools comfortably. Once upon a time when men were made of steel and women as tough as nails, you could survive for weeks just with the saddle sack (or months, if you ask remote patrollers who served in wars), sleeping in the wilderness and eating what nature has to offer. Although the needs of a modern camper are different, a good backpack design is still a good backpack design. The traditional saddle sack is as fine a carrying device as it ever was, and it has the sort of a romantic retro vibe that you just cannot find in contemporary backpacks.

COMPARTMENTS

The main compartment of the bag (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by tightening the opening which is covered with a flap that can be secured with leather straps. The straps are long enough to attach, for example, a rolled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable straps can be used to lengthen the straps. The size of the main compartment of the backpack is large enough to fit even a heavy winter sleeping bag inside. The side pockets (dimensions approximately 33 x 10 x 6 cm) are closed with fitted flaps with good coverage and secured with leather straps. The side pockets are ideal for packing large Thermos flasks and other cumbersome, long supplies. The back pocket (dimensions approximately 20 x 30 x 6 cm) is closed with a flap equipped with two leather straps. You can pack plenty of small supplies into the generously sized outer pocket for quick and easy Access.

OTHER ATTACHMENT POINTS

There are attachment loops on the sides of the opening for detachable straps. By using straps, it is possible to attach long rolls, such as a blanket or a sleeping mat, securely on top of the bag. Ensure sturdy attachment by closing the flap of the bag over the roll.

CARRYING SYSTEM

A special feature of the saddle sack is its steel pipe frame which enables steady and comfortable carrying. The sturdy frame holds the bag firmly in shape and the horizontal leather strap stretched across the lower part of the frame sits comfortably against your lower back, keeping the bag itself from touching your back. The shoulder straps are wide leather straps, the length of which can be adjusted with buckles. Because of the steel pipe frame, it is much more comfortable to carry the saddle sack than a frameless backpack, particularly over long distances and with a heavy load.

Savotta Rajapartio / Border Patrol Backpack

Border controls A classic from 1989, known in Finnish as the Rajapartio, originally designed for the Finnish border guard. An internal tubular aluminium frame helps to carry unwieldy and heavy loads. What is special is that the Rajapartio backpack has attachment points for a rifle on the outside. Originally designed to carry an assault rifle, the attachment points can also be used very well to attach, for example, a camera tripod or other long special supplies. Compartments The upper main compartment (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 22 cm) is closed by attaching the opening of the drawstring, which is secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overpackaging. The opening is covered with a large flap that is secured with straps. The generous length of the straps offers plenty of space under the flap to overpack. In the flap is a large, open pouch. When the valve is closed, the opening of the bag is facing upwards and closes so that the contents do not fall. Against the back in the bag is a pocket the size of the entire back for the supporting frame of the backpack. The compartment is also ideal for carrying, for example, a water bag or other flat stuff. The lower compartment of the bag (dimensions about 15 x 35 x 20 cm) is closed with a two-way zipper and fastened with the same straps used to close the flap of the backpack itself. The side compartments (dimensions approximately 30 x 15 x 6 cm) are sealed with waterproof protective collars and covered with flaps that can be secured with straps. The side pocket on the left also has a vertical zipper which makes the contents of the box quickly accessible. OTHER ANCHORAGES On the flap at the back of the backpack and at the bottom of the bag you will find fastening loops to carry a rifle. The loops are also equally suitable for carrying other exceptionally long devices. The load is secured by tightening a belt that encloses the entire backpack. There are attachment points for detachable straps on top of the flap. Large essentials that otherwise do not fit in the backpack can be fastened on top of the flap. The side compartment on the right is tunnel-shaped and there is a mounting point above for a detachable belt. For example, it can easily hold an axe. SUPPORT SYSTEM The wide, anatomically shaped, sturdy shoulder straps and the well-padded hip belt ensure supported and comfortable wearing. The buckle of the hip belt can be detached very quickly with one hand. A very valuable function in a possible emergency. With the support handle on the top, the backpack is also easy to carry by hand. The back is reinforced with an internal, square tube frame made of DUR aluminum. This lightweight frame keeps the backpack upright and is comfortable to carry, even with a slightly heavier load. The support frame can also be removed from the backpack if desired. Big enough for multi-day walks, but compressable to a compact day package if necessary. The PALS attachment system provides excellent scalability to the outside when you need it. Thanks to the generously padded, thermoformed shoulder belts and lap belt in combination with an internal tubular aluminium frame, the Jääkäri L can comfortably carry heavy loads. By opening the distributor, the main pocket is changed into a large hollow space. The zipper at the bottom provides quick access to the equipment you need most during the day, while the roll top ensures weatherproof protection for most of your gear. A zippered box in the lid provides secure storage for your wallet, keys, travel documents and phone. The roll closure, the floating lid and the compression straps on the side offer a wide range of adaptability to the volume of the backpack. Tie it tightly or loosen it, depending on the load transported. The compression straps ensure that additional equipment can be attached to the outside of the backpack if necessary. A hydration compartment is attached to the inner wall. A central hydration tube port allows you to guide your hydration bladder tube from behind your neck to both shoulders. With PALS straps on the lap belt, sides, lid and bottom of the backpack, you can attach extra pockets and equipment. SUPPORT SYSTEM An internal tubular aluminum frame ensures that the backpack does not sag and transfers the weight of the backpack to your hips, even when loaded with heavy and bulky cargo. The Border Patrol package is still being used by the Finnish Border Patrol at the time of writing in 2019, a testament to how specially designed designs do not work. However, materials and manufacturing technologies are evolving, as are end-users' needs. The Jääkäri L is in our opinion a worthy successor to its ancestor.

Savotta Tent repair kit

TENT REPAIR KIT The tent repair kit is suitable for repairing tents made of both cotton and cotton mix. The repair patches are fireproof pieces of cotton mix. The kit contains approximately 90 round spots for tents with a diameter of 5 cm and 6 cm, 2 pieces of 40 × 50 cm, 35 ml repair glue and instructions. The patches are intended for cotton mix fire-resistant tents, but they can also be used to repair non-fire-resistant tents. Perform repairs in a well-ventilated area. The glue irritates eyes and skin. The damaged area must be dry and clean from grease or dirt. Divide the glue on to the damaged area and the patch with a brush or spatula. Allow the glue to dry for 5-15 minutes, depending on the air temperature and relative humidity. Press the patch on the damaged area. Squeeze with your hands into the repaired area and make sure that the patch is securely secured by, for example, lightly beating with a rubber hammer. Note! The patch cannot be moved after repair. The glue is immediately firmly secured and the final fixation is reached after 7 days. Beware of glue stains, as the glue can only be removed after drying with acetone or a similar solvent. You should observe the effect of the solvent on the substance when using solvents. If you get glue on your skin, wash it off with soap and hot water. If you get glue in your eye, rinse immediately with plenty of hot water and seek medical attention. Seek medical attention immediately if you have swallowed the substance.
