A classic retro backpack for a hunter; the design has remained unchanged since the 1950s. After making something that works once, why fix the design if it is not broken! Just as great for hunting, camping and the city today as it was 60 years ago.

Due to its size, the 323 saddle sack is ideal for one or two day hunting trips: the backpack holds the necessary overnight equipment, provisions and other useful gadgets and tools comfortably. Once upon a time when men were made of steel and women as tough as nails, you could survive for weeks just with the saddle sack (or months, if you ask remote patrollers who served in wars), sleeping in the wilderness and eating what nature has to offer. Although the needs of a modern camper are different, a good backpack design is still a good backpack design. The traditional saddle sack is as fine a carrying device as it ever was, and it has the sort of a romantic retro vibe that you just cannot find in contemporary backpacks.

COMPARTMENTS

The main compartment of the bag (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by tightening the opening which is covered with a flap that can be secured with leather straps. The straps are long enough to attach, for example, a rolled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable straps can be used to lengthen the straps. The size of the main compartment of the backpack is large enough to fit even a heavy winter sleeping bag inside. The side pockets (dimensions approximately 33 x 10 x 6 cm) are closed with fitted flaps with good coverage and secured with leather straps. The side pockets are ideal for packing large Thermos flasks and other cumbersome, long supplies. The back pocket (dimensions approximately 20 x 30 x 6 cm) is closed with a flap equipped with two leather straps. You can pack plenty of small supplies into the generously sized outer pocket for quick and easy Access.

OTHER ATTACHMENT POINTS

There are attachment loops on the sides of the opening for detachable straps. By using straps, it is possible to attach long rolls, such as a blanket or a sleeping mat, securely on top of the bag. Ensure sturdy attachment by closing the flap of the bag over the roll.

CARRYING SYSTEM

A special feature of the saddle sack is its steel pipe frame which enables steady and comfortable carrying. The sturdy frame holds the bag firmly in shape and the horizontal leather strap stretched across the lower part of the frame sits comfortably against your lower back, keeping the bag itself from touching your back. The shoulder straps are wide leather straps, the length of which can be adjusted with buckles. Because of the steel pipe frame, it is much more comfortable to carry the saddle sack than a frameless backpack, particularly over long distances and with a heavy load.

The two vertical fastening straps leave an approx. 9 cm wide gap, so you can carry items such as axes, fishing sticks, etc. behind the pouch. Optimal attachment requires a width of four channels and a height of six (min. five) rows of PALS webbing. The compression straps on the side of the backpack, when put on, will prevent any movement of the backpack and its contents. Of our own packs, we recommend the 12L side bag only for the Jääkäri XL. While this is not recommended, you can also make the bag suitable for smaller bags with an absolute minimum of six rows of PALS webbing on the sides, by attaching the bag a step higher and accepting that the bottom becomes a little limp. Examples of use With a capacity of twelve liters, this is a very large side bag, the PALS attachment is five channels wide. Best used on large and high backpacks of 70-100+ liters. 30 years of experience in building large military backpacks. The main upgrade is the new "Herma" buckle, a buckle that is both brand and female in one buckle. That makes it possible to attach it wherever you want. No more searching for the right buckle to connect with. The depth of the backpack is small, but the width and lengths are long to carry what you need, but to be as close to your body as possible makes it easier to carry it. Shaped to sit nice and tight along the back. Stiff head hole and cut out in the lid so you can lean your head back when carrying the backpack. Shoulder pads are made of foam plastic and 1mm hard plastic for comfort and an even balance of weight. They have a chest strap and handset/microphone attachment. The main compartment has a large U-shaped opening with zipper to access the upper part of the backpack. The opening is covered with PALS on the outside. The sleeping bag compartment in the bottom of the backpack is also accessible through a U-shaped opening in the bottom of the backpack. This compartment is made variable in size so that a large sleeping bag fits in it. Two removable 11-litre side pockets with zippered opening on both sides that are accessible when you're on the backpack or in the tent. The side pockets can be connected as a backpack or worn separately. Top cover that can also be worn as a hip bag or small backpack. A padded belt with 2 MOLLE bands sewn on the outside for a comfortable carrying of any type of pouch or holster. The MOLLE bands are sewn on 8 cm wide panels with slots between the panels. The inner belt can be placed on the outside of one or more panels so a pistol holster can be worn. An inside 25 mm band is sewn under the panels, use it to attach a leg panel if you need to. It prevents the band from the leg panel from blocking other pouches on the belt itself. On the inside of the belts foam ridges are sewn to improve ventilation and comfort. They also make the belt fit snugly on the body. In the top of the belt, loops are sewn so you can attach a harness or similar. Ballistic panels can be inserted inside the belt. Remove the waist band and use the riggers belt to combine the features of both belts. A 3 point security buckle, prevents unwanted opening. The belt adjuster can be used on this belt.
