The Jääkäri XL is an improved model of the modular LJK parachutist backpack, originally designed for the Finnish armed forces. The PALS attachment system provides great scalability to the outside when you need it. This backpack is designed to carry extremely heavy loads, just as its military predecessors have been since the early 1980s. With the roll top at the top, the zipper at the bottom and a drawstring distributor on the inside, you can use the main pocket in any way you want. By opening the distributor, the main pocket turns into a huge hollow space, allowing you to pack very large and long items. The zipper at the bottom provides quick access to all the gear you need most during the day, while the roll top provides weatherproof protection for most of your gear. The lower zippered compartment features elastic compression straps on the inside and four small mesh pockets to organize your gear. A zippered pocket on the inside of the lid provides secure storage for your wallet, keys, travel documents and phone. The roll closure, the floating lid and the compression straps on the side offer a wide range of adaptability to the volume of the backpack. Fasten it tightly or loosen it, depending on the load carried. The compression straps ensure that additional equipment can be attached to the outside of the backpack if necessary. External side pockets at the bottom can be used to provide tools, tripods etc. Secure to the sides of the backpack. A hydration compartment is attached to the inner back wall. Modularity With PALS straps on the lap belt, sides, lid and bottom of the backpack, you can attach extra pockets and equipment. This system offers numerous options to customize the package to your specific needs. Not only for pouches, the PALS band can also be used for attaching utility straps, shock cord, carbine hooks etc. The lap belt can be removed from the frame for use as a stand-alone equipment belt. With suitable bags attached to them, you can use them instead of or in combination with a small day pack. HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE CARRYING SYSTEM When carrying heavy backpacks over long distances, it is extremely important that your backpack fits just right. The length adjustable lap belt and shoulder belt can be moved both up and down the frame to be suitable for users with a length of 160-200 cm. The external LJK tubular aluminium frame ensures that the backpack does not hang and transfers the weight of the backpack to your hips, even when loaded with heavy and cumbersome load. Both the shoulder harness and the lap belt are generously filled with thermoformed foam filling with closed cells. The shoulder harness is S-shaped and has a detachable chest strap. The forward pull setting on the lap belt is easy to put on even under load. The buckle on the side provides quick and easy opening when needed. The high LJK frame offers good lifting possibilities. CONNECTION OF FINNISH BORDER GUARD In the early 1990s, a compact Savotta walking backpack, simply called the "608", was chosen as the starting point for the design of a new day backpack for the Finnish Border Guard. This then changed to the 'Kevyt Rajapartio' or Lightweight Border Patrol backpack, a very modern backpack for its time: narrow design for mobility, side zipper, compression belts and rifle fastening. Most striking was a very sturdy carrying system and an aluminum reinforced frame - something you rarely see on packaging of its size. This venerable design was chosen in 2013 as the basis for the development of what would become the Jääkäri M, the first in the modern range of Savotta packs with a construction and functionality of military quality. Savotta Hatka 12L

At first glance, the Hatka 12L may seem like just a roller bag with shoulder straps, but when you look closer, you'll see that there's actually a lot going on. This design was conceived as part of a special military carrying system, which required a small daypack that could be easily attached to a larger backpack. On the outside are four rows of PALS weaving tapes. These can be used for attaching pouches, bungee cords, and buckles to quickly attach or detach the Hatka to a larger backpack. The four webbing loops at the bottom can be used for elastic cords, so you can carry items under the backpack. Two long internal compartments are there to organize smaller items, and the D-ring provides a point to store small valuables. The large external pocket against your back is large enough for a hydration reservoir or tarp. The simple 25mm webbing shoulder straps are attached to D-rings and completely removable, and therefore also replaceable with padded shoulder straps if you wish. TRICKS AND MODULARITY Clip and tie it to a larger backpack for use as a "grab and go" daypack. You can do this by tucking it under the flap or by using packing straps. The really great way is to attach the Hatka to the side compression or lid straps using G-hooks or PALS mounted SR buckles. You'll need four of them to securely attach the Hatka 12L to the back of your Jääkäri M, L or XL. Please note that these attachment buckles ARE NOT INCLUDED with the backpack. If you need to, you can add a lot of stuff to the outside of this otherwise quite small backpack. The PALS webbing allows you to attach bags, but you can also thread bungee cords to it (along with the four webbing loops at the bottom) for rain gear, tarpaulins etc. Because the Hatka is in many ways a spiritual successor to the venerable 202 daypack, it also has very rudimentary shoulder straps. This reduces weight and bulk, which is great if you're strapping it to a larger backpack. If you need to, you can easily replace it with more advanced padded options. Although there aren't too many compartments, you can still make good use of them if you pack smartly. Of course, you can put your large items in the main compartment, and the two small inner compartments can hold all kinds of small items and even water bottles. The D-ring can be used to clamp or tie small valuables. The external compartment against your back can be used to carry a closed-cell foam pad as a frame cloth, or to carry a tarp or hydration bladder. Designed to be used with paratroopers’ LJK backpacks, the 202 has already become a classical concept. The main compartment of the Backpack (dimensions about 42 x 27 x 15 cm) is closed with a two-way zipper. The inside is without any additional compartments so even special and large items can fit in. Packing smartly is wise; for instance, folding one’s change of clothes and putting them against the back. This way, the Backpack would function as a back cushion. The outer pocket (measures about 15 x 23 x 5 cm) is closed with a zipper. It is convenient for smaller items which might be needed quickly.

CARRYING SYSTEM

The 202’s shoulder straps are very simple and adjusting their length is done using the plastic buckles in the lower corners. The Backpack can also be carried by hand by an extremely strong two-piece handle.

The cave-like, easy-to-pack bag and the wearing comfort of an external steel frame make the 339 a great choice for longer trips. A classic model from the 1950s, only the materials have been renewed over the years but the design has remained the same. Compartments The main compartment is closed by tightening the opening with drawstring which is covered with a flap that can be fastened with straps. The straps are long enough to, for example, attach a coiled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable tyres can be used to extend the tyres. The contents of the bag can also be accessed quickly via the small side zipper on the right side of the opening. Special is that on the sides of the bag there are strings that can be used to tighten it to make the bag firm with less stuff in it, the adjustment range is about 10 cm. Conveniently, you can pack extra supplies behind the side cords, for example a camping axe. The side pockets are ideal for packing large thermos bottles and other cumbersome, long necessities. You can put lots of small necessities in the generous outdoor compartment for quick and easy access. SUPPORT SYSTEM The frame of the support device is the steel tube frame of the 339. Large, multifunctional waist bag suitable for various specialized activities and tasks. Versatile internal organization and numerous external attachment points. Quickly attaches to backpacks in a variety of ways, allowing you to use the Askare as part of a modular, scalable backpack system. "Askare" is Finnish for "task" or "chore", it's as simple as that. This backpack was originally designed for sniper teams to carry various shooter/spotter-related gear, but has proven to be a great asset for all kinds of tasks both inside and outside of military origins during development. The large seven-litre capacity plus numerous external mounting options make this a very versatile general-purpose bag. On the inside, the bag has a number of options for organizing your belongings: elastic webbing loops of different sizes, flat pockets, attachment loops, and a loop surface for attaching organizers with hooks. On the back wall, two rows of 50 mm elastic webbing are sewn, forming loops of different sizes. The bottom row is sewn in two large, approx. 17 cm wide loops (designed for .50 cal Barrett magazines). The top row is sewn in three smaller, approx. 12 cm wide loops (designed for HK417 magazines). Each end of the bag has an elastic loop for smaller items. The front wall has two flat compartments with attachment loops at the top. A loop area of 35 x 10 cm on the inside of the front makes it possible to attach all kinds of organizers with hooks, etc. A large, open compartment on the back of the backpack has a removable closed cell foam pad on the inside and allows you to store the waist belt if needed. This open compartment can also be used as a huge belt loop if you want to carry the Askare on a belt or the waist belt of a backpack. The PALS webbing on the sides allows you to attach small pockets and accessories to the outside of the backpack. The horizontal webbing on the front of the backpack can be used to attach small pouches such as our Multitool pouch, Tourniquet pouch and Zipped GP pouch 2x2, or elastic drawstring loops. The many loops on the sides of the backpack can be used to attach elastic cord to carry all kinds of items on the bottom and front of the bag, turnstiles, ponchos, tarps, whatever. WEARING OPTIONS Due to its large size, the Askare carries the best on your lower back, rotate it forward for easy access. The strap is also long enough to carry the bag on your back like a sling pack. The strap is attached to large triangular wings for stability. For longer backpack movements, you can quickly attach the Askare to the compression straps on the side of your backpack. To do this, you'll need to add suitable buckles (2M PALS mount or split-bar female buckles) or use G-hooks. No quick-release buckles are included with the bag. You can also quickly attach the Askare to the side of your backpack by threading the compression straps on the side of the backpack through the large belt loops on the front of the bag. The strap can be stored in the open compartment on the side of the bag when you carry it on your backpack.
