Both the shoulder harness and the lap belt are tightly filled with foam with closed cells. The shoulder harness is S-shaped and has a detachable chest strap. The forward-pulling lap belt is also easy to put on under load. The buckle on the side provides quick and easy opening when needed. The lap belt is equipped with an additional cushion for lower back support. CONNECTION OF FINNISH BORDER GUARD In the early 1990s, a compact Savotta walking backpack, simply called the "608", was chosen as the starting point for the design of a new day backpack for the Finnish Border Guard. This then changed to the 'Kevyt Rajapartio' or Lightweight Border Patrol backpack, a very modern backpack for its time: narrow design for mobility, side zipper, compression belts and rifle fastening. Most striking was a very sturdy carrying system and an aluminum reinforced frame - something you rarely see on packaging of its size. This venerable design was chosen in 2013 as the basis for the development of what would become the Jääkäri M, the first in the modern range of Savotta packs with a construction and functionality of military quality. KEVYT RAJAPARTIO The daypack, originally designed for the Finnish Border Guard and also known as the Kevyt Rajapartio, is compact, simple and very versatile. Due to its slim shape, the backpack does not stand in the way even in tight spaces and is ideal for skiing and hunting. In its size category, the Kevyt Rajapartio is an unusually sturdy backpack to carry. The aluminium-reinforced internal support frame keeps the backpack in strong shape even when heavy loads. With the compression straps of the bag, even a backpack that is not full can be put on so that it sits firmly and does not rock. Compartments The bag (approximately 50 x 25 x 10-20 cm dimensions) is closed by tightening the drawstring opening secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overfrapping. The opening is covered with a flap that encloses the top of the backpack and is fastened with straps. The generous length of the tyres offers a lot of space under the flap for overpackaging. The contents of the upper compartment can also be accessed quickly from the right side via a vertical zipper that runs over the full height of the backpack. Against the back in the bag is a pocket the size of the entire back for the supporting frame of the backpack. The compartment is also ideal for carrying, for example, a drinking bag or other flat items. In the bag is a holder for a thermos so you can always find it where it belongs. With the four compression straps on the sides of the backpack, the bag can be tightened compactly even when it is not full. The flap of the bag has a flat pocket with zipper for small items (size about 20 x 20 cm). OTHER ANCHORAGES On the flap at the back of the backpack and at the bottom of the bag you will find attachment loops to carry a rifle. The loops are also equally suitable for transporting other exceptionally long devices. The load is secured by donting a strap that circles the entire backpack. It is also possible to attach items that would not otherwise fit in the backpack behind the compression straps of the bag. The bottom of the backpack has four fastening loops for detachable straps. Binding to the bottom is an excellent method of wearing for, for example, coiled sleeping mats. On both sides of the lap belt there are fastening loops to attach small items. SUPPORT SYSTEM The wide, anatomically shaped, sturdy shoulder straps and the well-padded hip belt ensure supported and comfortable wearing. The hip belt buckle can be quickly detached with one hand, which is a very valuable feature in a possible emergency. The buckle collar provides extra comfort and support when wearing. With the support on the top, the backpack is also easy to carry by hand. The back is reinforced with a very durable frame of plastic plate to which two vertical aluminum rods with rivets are attached. This lightweight frame keeps the backpack upright and can also be carried comfortably with a heavier load. The support frame can also be removed from the backpack if desired. The generous and sturdy cushions against the back are a rarity in a backpack of this size category and make the Kevyt Rajapartio a surprisingly comfortable small backpack to carry. BACKPACK 339
The cave-like, easy-to-pack bag and the wearing comfort of an external steel frame make the 339 a great choice for longer trips. A classic model from the 1950s, only the materials have been renewed over the years but the design has remained the same. Compartments The main compartment is closed by tightening the opening with drawstring which is covered with a flap that can be fastened with straps. The straps are long enough to, for example, attach a coiled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable tyres can be used to extend the tyres. The contents of the bag can also be accessed quickly via the small side zipper on the right side of the opening. Special is that on the sides of the bag there are strings that can be used to tighten it to make the bag firm with less stuff in it, the adjustment range is about 10 cm. Conveniently, you can pack extra supplies behind the side cords, for example a camping axe. The side pockets are ideal for packing large thermos bottles and other cumbersome, long necessities. You can put lots of small necessities in the generous outdoor compartment for quick and easy access. SUPPORT SYSTEM The frame of the support device is the steel tube frame of the 339. The lower part of the frame is curved and forms a base on which the backpack can also be placed safely on sharp stony ground. The supporting carrying system, similar to backpacks with external frame, ensures comfort. The back length is adjustable steplessly for users of different lengths. A light and very comfortable trouser belt. Suitable when you do not carry heavy weights in your pockets. It is elastic and adapts to your body, while still not being flimsy. Made of the same elastic band that we use in the Army's single-point weapon holder for the AK5. The belt is cut to a fitting length in the end that is fastened in the buckle, and the edge is burnt to seal it and prevent fraying. The buckle is easily fitted and removed. The inner belt can be placed on the outside of one or more panels so a pistol holster can be worn. An inside 25 mm band is sewn under the panels, use it to attach a leg panel if you need to. It prevents the band from the leg panel from blocking other pouches on the belt itself. On the inside of the belts foam ridges are sewn to improve ventilation and comfort. They also make the belt fit snugly on the body. In the top of the belt, loops are sewn so you can attach a harness or similar. Ballistic panels can be inserted inside the belt.
