By today's standards, the 123, which has been in production since the 1950s, has an authentic retro vibe! A classic design that is practically the same as the design that was used in Finland in the early years of the 20th century. A simple bag with two smaller side pockets, leather shoulder straps and guard flaps with buckles. A stylish choice for both hunting and everyday use. Compartments The main compartment of the bag is sealed with a large flap that is fastened with a belt. The bag has no compartments on the inside, which means that unusual and even large devices fit in it. It is a good idea to pack smartly by, for example, putting folded clothing changes against the back. This way, your backpack has a functional back padding. On the outside of the bag there are two smaller side pockets. SUPPORT SYSTEM The shoulder straps of the backpack are simple leather straps. The length can be adjusted with the metal buckles in the lower corners. When the backpack is on your back, the upper end of the shoulder straps ensures that the bag is securely fastened. The cave-like, easy-to-pack bag and the wearing comfort of an external steel frame make the 339 a great choice for longer trips. A classic model from the 1950s, only the materials have been renewed over the years but the design has remained the same. Compartments The main compartment is closed by tightening the opening with drawstring which is covered with a flap that can be fastened with straps. The straps are long enough to, for example, attach a coiled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable tyres can be used to extend the tyres. The contents of the bag can also be accessed quickly via the small side zipper on the right side of the opening. Special is that on the sides of the bag there are strings that can be used to tighten it to make the bag firm with less stuff in it, the adjustment range is about 10 cm. Conveniently, you can pack extra supplies behind the side cords, for example a camping axe. The side pockets are ideal for packing large thermos bottles and other cumbersome, long necessities. You can put lots of small necessities in the generous outdoor compartment for quick and easy access. SUPPORT SYSTEM The frame of the support device is the steel tube frame of the 339. The lower part of the frame is curved and forms a base on which the backpack can also be placed safely on sharp stony ground. The supporting carrying system, similar to backpacks with external frame, ensures comfort. The back length is adjustable steplessly for users of different lengths. Your upper back is against stretched mesh and your lower back in turn against a belt saddle: these prevent the bag itself from largely hitting your back, which makes for less sweaty conditions. The shoulder straps are wider than normal and padded, a chest strap with buckle gives extra support. The support point of the shoulder straps is located at the top of the frame. It is possible to adjust the center of gravity of the backpack even while walking by tightening and loosening the adjusting straps of the shoulder straps. Most striking was a very sturdy carrying system and an aluminum reinforced frame - something you rarely see on packaging of its size. This venerable design was chosen in 2013 as the basis for the development of what would become the Jääkäri M, the first in the modern range of Savotta packs with a construction and functionality of military quality. Savotta Rajapartio / Border Patrol Backpack

Border controls A classic from 1989, known in Finnish as the Rajapartio, originally designed for the Finnish border guard. An internal tubular aluminium frame helps to carry unwieldy and heavy loads. What is special is that the Rajapartio backpack has attachment points for a rifle on the outside. Originally designed to carry an assault rifle, the attachment points can also be used very well to attach, for example, a camera tripod or other long special supplies. Compartments The upper main compartment (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 22 cm) is closed by attaching the opening of the drawstring, which is secured with a waterproof protective collar that also allows overpackaging. The opening is covered with a large flap that is secured with straps. The generous length of the straps offers plenty of space under the flap to overpack. In the flap is a large, open pouch. When the valve is closed, the opening of the bag is facing upwards and closes so that the contents do not fall. Against the back in the bag is a pocket the size of the entire back for the supporting frame of the backpack. The compartment is also ideal for carrying, for example, a water bag or other flat stuff. The lower compartment of the bag (dimensions about 15 x 35 x 20 cm) is closed with a two-way zipper and fastened with the same straps used to close the flap of the backpack itself. The side compartments (dimensions approximately 30 x 15 x 6 cm) are sealed with waterproof protective collars and covered with flaps that can be secured with straps. The side pocket on the left also has a vertical zipper which makes the contents of the box quickly accessible. OTHER ANCHORAGES On the flap at the back of the backpack and at the bottom of the bag you will find fastening loops to carry a rifle. The loops are also equally suitable for carrying other exceptionally long devices. The load is secured by tightening a belt that encloses the entire backpack. There are attachment points for detachable straps on top of the flap. Large essentials that otherwise do not fit in the backpack can be fastened on top of the flap. The side compartment on the right is tunnel-shaped and there is a mounting point above for a detachable belt. For example, it can easily hold an axe. A classic retro backpack for a hunter; the design has remained unchanged since the 1950s. After making something that works once, why fix the design if it is not broken! Just as great for hunting, camping and the city today as it was 60 years ago.

Due to its size, the 323 saddle sack is ideal for one or two day hunting trips: the backpack holds the necessary overnight equipment, provisions and other useful gadgets and tools comfortably. Once upon a time when men were made of steel and women as tough as nails, you could survive for weeks just with the saddle sack (or months, if you ask remote patrollers who served in wars), sleeping in the wilderness and eating what nature has to offer. Although the needs of a modern camper are different, a good backpack design is still a good backpack design. The traditional saddle sack is as fine a carrying device as it ever was, and it has the sort of a romantic retro vibe that you just cannot find in contemporary backpacks.

COMPARTMENTS

The main compartment of the bag (dimensions approximately 45 x 35 x 25 cm) is closed by tightening the opening which is covered with a flap that can be secured with leather straps. The straps are long enough to attach, for example, a rolled sleeping mat or blanket under the flap. If necessary, additional detachable straps can be used to lengthen the straps. The size of the main compartment of the backpack is large enough to fit even a heavy winter sleeping bag inside. The side pockets (dimensions approximately 33 x 10 x 6 cm) are closed with fitted flaps with good coverage and secured with leather straps. The side pockets are ideal for packing large Thermos flasks and other cumbersome, long supplies. The back pocket (dimensions approximately 20 x 30 x 6 cm) is closed with a flap equipped with two leather straps. You can pack plenty of small supplies into the generously sized outer pocket for quick and easy Access.

OTHER ATTACHMENT POINTS

There are attachment loops on the sides of the opening for detachable straps. By using straps, it is possible to attach long rolls, such as a blanket or a sleeping mat, securely on top of the bag. Ensure sturdy attachment by closing the flap of the bag over the roll.

CARRYING SYSTEM

A special feature of the saddle sack is its steel pipe frame which enables steady and comfortable carrying. The sturdy frame holds the bag firmly in shape and the horizontal leather strap stretched across the lower part of the frame sits comfortably against your lower back, keeping the bag itself from touching your back. The shoulder straps are wide leather straps, the length of which can be adjusted with buckles. Because of the steel pipe frame, it is much more comfortable to carry the saddle sack than a frameless backpack, particularly over long distances and with a heavy load.
