While natural foliage is the ultimate helmet camouflage, a bushy cover with a 3D effect might be the next best thing. Quick and easy to use, easy to customize. They effectively break up helmet silhouettes and provide quick camouflage adjustment to suit different environments.
The design is very simple, a single flat piece of 500D Cordura with alternating zigzag shapes cut into it. The zigzag pattern is positioned in such a way that it creates an opening for NVG mounts on the front. Small slits have been cut around the edges for the elastic cord. Thread the elastic cord through the slits, tie it at the back, and pull it over your helmet like a shower cap. Finish it off by pulling back any excess material and rolling it underneath yourself to tighten the cover.
If you want to adjust the fit, you can play around with threading the elastic cord through the slits and zigzag pattern in different ways. And if you get really wild and feel the need: you can even cut off excess material from the cover, but of course, such huge adjustments are at your own risk.
