The L1010 Axiostat dressing is a bioactive hemostatic dressing. It works through a unique mucoadhesion mechanism based on electrical charge, which forms a mechanical barrier over the bleeding area. The production technology is not that of an impregnated dressing, but of a 100% chitosan dressing, free of powder residues or thermal reactions. Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide, composed of glucosamine nanomers and N-acetylglucosamine, resulting in cationically charged chitosan (+Ve). The chitosan has been treated to lower the acidity from pH 6.4 to a physiological pH of 7.4.
It is easy to remove with water; Therefore, it is essential to always protect it from moisture and water with a bandage that is as waterproof as possible, as with all Chitosan products, impregnated or not (100%).

This is a new generation of Indian hemostatic devices, featuring a revolutionary design with protonated bioadhesive PBT technology (Innovation Award 2024 in India). These preparations are unique in that they adhere to tissues when needed and release easily when their function is complete.

The compress version is easy to apply and thanks to its compact and slim packaging, it is convenient to carry. It stops light to severe bleeding and can be torn off, folded, rolled up and also inserted into the wound by hand.

Functioning

*Note: The essence of PBT® technology lies in optimizing the bioadhesive properties of native chitosan without changing its chemical structure. Structurally, chitosan is a natural polysaccharide, composed of glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine monomers. Chitosan obtains its positive charge (+ve) by the protonation of the primary amine groups (NH₂) in the glucosamine subunits. However, this protonation is pH-dependent: at a pH above 6.5, chitosan undergoes neutralization and loses its positive charge at a physiological pH of 7.4. Researchers have developed numerous chemical derivatives of chitosan to enhance its positive properties under physiological conditions. However, these chemical modifications often lead to other drawbacks, such as inconsistency, higher processing costs, a risk of toxicity, and a reduction in the molecular weight of chitosan. That’s why we formulated chitosan with (PBT®), using exclusively the physical properties and microscopic morphology of this natural material to maximize the cationic charge.
