The SWAT-T™ Turnstile is a unique and multifunctional bandage. Its name describes its use Stretch, Wrap and Tuck, as well as the communities for whom it was developed – military and civilian Special Weapons and Tactics teams. These teams operate in an environment where there are many penetrating traumas, and most (two-thirds) of avoidable deaths in the operational environment result from bleeding at the extremities.
The SWAT-T™ Tourniquet provides a faster way to control extremity bleeding and can be placed higher in the groin and axilla than other tourniquets. The ease of use is one of the biggest advantages; people can apply it effectively in seconds with little to no prior training. For a third of the cost and weight of other turnstiles, this turnstile should find its way forward with any tactical operator.
The SWAT-T™ Black model is made with a black color for use in tactical environments. The instructions for use are printed on the turnstile, along with the trademark of the printing application indicating how much pressure must be applied to achieve occlusion. Stretch the band until the window appears and there is enough pressure to stop or slow down severe bleeding.
The SWAT-T™ Orange model is made with a bright safety orange color for easy identification and application. The instructions for use are printed on the turnstile, together with the trademark of the pressure gauge indicating how much pressure must be applied to achieve occlusion. Stretch the band until the diamond appears and there is enough pressure to stop or slow down severe bleeding.
The SWAT-T™ was developed by a former operator/physician with 14 years of experience in operational medicine – former USAF Pararescue Journeyman (Para-Jumper or PJ)), contractor DoJ/FBI SWAT Operations, National Registry Paramedic, and Emergency Medicine Physician. Minimum recommended operating temperature -65 degrees F (-53 degrees C) Maximum recommended operating temperature. 180 Grade F (82 Degree C) Preferred storage conditions in long-term cool and dry environment.
